As the warm months approach, Brooklyn Park comes alive with a series of events that showcase our community’s diversity and unity. These gatherings offer residents and visitors alike the opportunity to connect, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
Celebrate Brooklyn Park Series
The city’s Recreation and Parks Department organizes the annual ‘Celebrate Brooklyn Park’ series, honoring our traditions while embracing the evolving heritage of all community members. This series features events throughout the year, each designed to bring people together and highlight the unique aspects of our city.
Upcoming Summer Highlights
Tater Daze Parade and Community Gathering
One of the most anticipated events is the Tater Daze Parade, scheduled for May 30. Starting at 10:00 am, the parade will feature local school teams, community organizations, and public safety vehicles. Following the parade, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, the Community Gathering at the Community Activity Center will offer live music, food trucks, inflatables, and games for all ages. Admission is free, making it accessible for everyone to join in the festivities.
Juneteenth Celebration
On June 20, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, Brooklyn Park will host a Juneteenth Celebration, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. This event will feature cultural performances, educational activities, and community discussions, providing an opportunity to reflect on our history and celebrate progress.
River Park Discovery Day
Nature enthusiasts can look forward to River Park Discovery Day on June 27, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This event invites families to explore the natural beauty of River Park, participate in guided tours, and engage in hands-on environmental activities.
Concerts on the Lawn Summer Series
Starting June 30, the ‘Concerts on the Lawn’ summer series will kick off, offering live music performances from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. These concerts provide a relaxing atmosphere for residents to enjoy diverse musical genres while connecting with neighbors.
Community Engagement and Safety
Participating in these events not only fosters community spirit but also contributes to the overall safety and well-being of Brooklyn Park. The city has seen a significant 25% drop in violent crime over the past year, a testament to the positive impact of community engagement and collaboration between residents and local authorities.
By attending and supporting these events, we continue to build a stronger, more connected Brooklyn Park. Let’s come together this summer to celebrate our community’s vibrancy and resilience.
